Who we are
The Adaptation Project (TAP) is the official book club of BookFlix, operated at theadaptationproject.club. This policy explains what data we collect when you interact with this website and how we handle it.
What we collect and why
Guest RSVP data
When you book a seat at a TAP meeting as a guest, we collect your first name, last name, email address, and optionally a pseudonym. This data is stored in the BookFlix backend (Firebase Firestore) solely to confirm your attendance and display your name (or pseudonym) on the event page. Your email is used once to send a one-time verification code (OTP) and is not used for any other communication without your consent.
Transactional email
OTP emails are sent via Resend from hello@bookflix.app. We do not send marketing emails. We do not add you to any mailing list.
Usage analytics
This website is deployed on Vercel, which may collect anonymised request logs (IP addresses, user-agent strings, page paths) as part of its infrastructure. We do not use additional tracking scripts, cookies, or analytics platforms.
WhatsApp community
When you join the TAP WhatsApp community via the invite link on this website, your phone number and WhatsApp profile are visible to community admins and members under WhatsApp's own privacy policy. We do not control WhatsApp's data handling.
How we store your data
RSVP data is stored in Google Firebase Firestore, hosted in the United States. The BookFlix backend is hosted on Render or Google Cloud Run. We do not sell, share, or rent your personal data to any third party.
Your rights
You may request that we delete your RSVP record at any time. To do so, email us at hello@bookflix.app with the email address you used to register.
If you are in the EU or UK, you have additional rights under GDPR / UK GDPR, including the right to access, rectify, or port your data. Contact us at the same address to exercise these rights.
Changes to this policy
If we make material changes to how we handle personal data, we will update the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. Continued use of the website after any update constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
