Guests are always welcome
Non-members can attend any TAP meeting as guests. You observe, listen, and experience the room before deciding to audition. No pressure, no commitment.
Active on BookFlix and the social community
Members are expected to stay active on the BookFlix app and the TAP WhatsApp community. This is where pairings are announced, polls run, and the real conversation continues between meetings.
Members can write for the blog
Have a take worth publishing? Members may submit articles to the club president or moderators for review. Accepted pieces are published under your name on the TAP blog.
Meetings are live-streamed
Every meeting is streamed so members who can't attend in person can join virtually and follow the debate in real time. The stream is for members — not public.
Potluck culture
When we meet at homes, beaches, or open spaces, we do potluck. Everyone brings something. If the venue is a café, restaurant, or lounge — you order for yourself. We'll always announce the format ahead of time.
Come prepared — every time
Pairings are announced in advance. Members are expected to arrive having read the book and watched the film. Showing up without having done the reading is bad form.
Every member presents
Membership isn't a spectator role. Members are expected to present at least once per cycle — bring a pairing, make a case, defend it. The club is only as sharp as the people in it.
Bringing a guest? Let us know
Members who want to bring a prospective member to a meeting should notify the club before the session. Guests who want to audition should be prepared to present.
Common Questions
Which pairing should I use for my audition?
Any adaptation you've genuinely read and watched. There's no assigned text — pick something you actually care about arguing. If you want to be a member by July 25th, we recommend Stardust (Neil Gaiman, book + Matthew Vaughn's 2007 film), since that's our next pairing.
Do I need a BookFlix account?
No — not to audition or attend. The BookFlix app is how active members engage with the club digitally (events, polls, gallery), but the app hasn't launched on the App Store yet. You can be a full member without it for now.
How long does the review process take?
It's immediate and in-person. You present at a meeting, the club deliberates, and you find out the same day. There's no waiting period.
Can I attend a meeting without auditioning first?
Yes. Come as a guest, observe, see if it's your kind of room. You don't have to present until you're ready.
Is AI-generated content allowed?
No. Your presentation must be your own reading, your own watching, and your own argument. AI-assisted content is grounds for immediate rejection.
