The Heavy Door

The Audition

TAP doesn't recruit members. It admits perspectives. The door is heavy by design — only those who truly live between the page and the screen belong here.

Read the Book

The current set text must be read in full. No summaries, no film-first shortcuts. The page is the foundation.

Watch the Adaptation

The film or series must be consumed in full. Every frame is evidence in the debate you're about to enter.

Build a Deck

Minimum 5 slides. Your argument must be structured, evidenced, and ready to be torn apart by the Council.

The Process

01

Submit Your Application

Fill out the form with your BookFlix username, thesis statement, and slide deck link.

02

Council Review

The Selection Council reviews all submissions within 7–10 days. Shortlisted applicants are contacted directly.

03

The Defense

A 30-minute digital session where you present your deck and defend your adaptation theory under questioning.

Begin Your Audition

Current set book: Stardust by Neil Gaiman

Submissions are reviewed by the Selection Council within 7–10 days. You'll be invited to a 30-minute digital defense session if shortlisted. Requires an active BookFlix account for verification.

Common Questions

Do I need a BookFlix account?

Yes. Your BookFlix profile is used for identity verification and connects your membership to the app's ecosystem.

What book should I use for my audition?

Use the current set book — Stardust by Neil Gaiman, paired with the 2007 Matthew Vaughn film. This changes each cycle.

How long does the review process take?

The Council reviews submissions on a rolling basis. Expect a response within 7–10 days. Defense sessions are scheduled within the following two weeks.

What happens if I'm not accepted?

You can reapply in the next cycle with a new submission. Guest membership is available in the interim — buy a pass to attend a single session.
